Western Australia received outstanding service from van Rooyen in the ruck, with the big man consistently putting the ball into advantageous positions for his onballers. Beyond his dominance in the air, he was active once the ball hit the ground, collecting clearances and helping his side win territory through the middle of the ground. His influence at stoppages was a major reason WA were able to dictate terms for long stretches of the game.
